SwampGloss Outside Misbehavin’

[The polishes featured in this post were provided by the maker]

Happy Spring, y’all! The birds are chirping, the flowers are blooming….and a lot of us are inside. This is why SwampGloss’s new Righteous Gemstones inspired polishes are here right one time!

The Righteous Gemstones is a fictional series on HBO that centers around a family of megachurch pastors. Eli Gemstone, widowed patriarch, along with his three quasi adult children make up the Gemstone clan. The Righteous Gemstones is a light-hearted drama filled with lots of laughs. I highly recommend it as your next show to binge!

If you are familiar with Swamp Gloss you may know that Katie, the creator, has already released three polishes inspired by the Gemstone children. The expansion of the Righteous Gemstone collection features two other characters from the series. Aimee-Leigh, gone but not forgotten mother to the Gemstones and Baby Billy, brother of Aimee Lee, and can be found misbehavin’ to this day! Without further ado, let’s check out the new duo.

The Misbehavin’ Tour of 1989

What’s up with all this misbehavin’? Aimee-Leigh and Baby Billy caught fame at a young age with their musical duo hit called “Misbehavin'”. It’s a cute little tune that’s obnoxiously catchy and before you know it you’ll be humming it throughout the day. Or maybe that’s just me.

I Ain’t No Charity. I’m A Commodity!

I Ain’t No Charity. I’m a Commodity was inspired by Uncle Baby Billy from the Righteous Gemstones and is described as a deceptively dark and deep magenta with iridescent flakes that shift red, orange, green & pink, gold, green and mega holo flakes.

Gah! It’s such a deliciously dark and deep magenta! Plus all those flakies – *faints*. I’m A Commodity is jam-packed with iridescent flakies. It’s totally righteous! We’ve got flakies that shift red, orange and green. Then we have some more flakies that shift pink, gold and green. But don’t worry, it doesn’t stop there. Three words:

MEGA HOLO FLAKES

The two pair so well with each other! They both share the pink/green/gold iridescent flakies. For this simple, yet bold, nail art I was inspired by the zany prints of the 80’s.

The Higher the Hair

The other half of this dynamic duo is The Higher the Hair inspired by Aimee-Leigh Gemstone. Described as: a magenta pink jelly filled with iridescent flakes that shift pink, green, and gold, purple, red and gold & violet, red, copper green.

Higher The Hair is the most absolute perfect 1980’s magento pink. This jelly has flakies shifting from pink/green/gold, purple/red/gold, and violet/red/copper green.

Again, the duo together with some simple nail art. I really love the heart shape in this wild 80’s print. With Aimee-Leigh being the late wife and mother to the Gemstone’s she held the family together and maybe that’s why everyone’s a little dysfunctional after her death. If there is a season 2 of the show I hope we get to see a little bit more of Aimee-Leight.

This picture is probably my favorite of all that I took. 2020 is the year of flakies, well, my year of flakies. For this swatch, I used the technique of painting a makeup sponge with the polish. Then I used the sponge to apply the polish to my nails. After applying three coats of the polish to the nail regularly I then applied a super layer of flakies.
